IGCSE Board Class 8 Syllabus

Science: Development of scientific temperament among students and critical thinking skills is what makes the IGCSE Class 8 Science syllabus unique. The curriculum majorly focuses on developing interest among students via relating concepts to real life experiences.

Computing: The IGCSE curriculum allows students to learn programming languages and coding like Python. They are also taught how to use computers.

English: The IGCSE English syllabus focuses on developing four major skills - reading, writing, speaking and grammar. Here, students interpret and analyse the texts from varied cultures. At this stage, students are seen as descriptive writers for different audiences and purposes.

Music: The curriculum focuses on both vocal and instrumental lessons. Students can learn various instruments and understand different types of music as per their choices and preferences.

Physical Education: The IGCSE syllabus allows learners to develop confidence, self-esteem, cognitive and social skills. It allows learners to know and apply various strategies and tactics while playing their favourite sports.

Art & Design: The Class 8 IGCSE syllabus allows learners to express themselves creatively and use art for self-reflexivity. The course is also designed to appreciate various forms of art including digital art, painting, print-making, etc.

Digital Literacy: The syllabus for IGCSE Digital Literacy allows learners to develop key ICT skills like computer programming, word processing, digital graphics, databases, spreadsheets, composing and sending emails, animation, video editing, internet and web authoring. The students will also get familiarised with cybercrimes and how to protect themselves from such crimes.

Global Perspectives: The IGCSE syllabus focuses on developing research and analytical skills. The syllabus covers topics on contemporary global challenges and issues like diseases, migration, belief systems, sustainability, poverty & inequality, trade & aid, human rights, globalization, employment, biodiversity, etc.

Mathematics: The IGCSE Class 8 syllabus focuses on principles, patterns, systems, functions and relationships. The IGCSE curriculum focuses on a distinct model ‘Thinking and working mathematically’ which encourages learners to apply Math in their daily lives. The syllabus focuses on three major areas - Number, Algebra, Geometry and Measure, Statistics and Probability.
