School education plays a vital role in every student’s life. It builds the foundation of a student’s future. Every school curriculum has a crucial board exam that acts as the first milestone in every student’s academic career. It prepares students for higher studies and ultimately his/her career. Hence, access to quality education in schools becomes extremely critical.
Students have to prepare for different board exams based on the board their school follows. The International General Certificate of Secondary Education also called the IGCSE board is one of the boards that schools follow. This educational system was developed by the University of Cambridge and is regarded as an international alternative to the various national boards. The core subjects in this system of education includes a First Language (which mostly is the English Language), a Second Language, Mathematics and one or more Science subjects. Its GCSE exam marks the end of a student’s secondary education and the beginning of higher level of studies. One of the many things that makes this board different from CBSE and ICSE boards is that the learner here receives an IGCSE qualification for each subject that he/she takes.
Unlike the national education system, the curriculum of IGCSE allows students to select courses basis their interest and mix them with vocational learning like fine arts, theatre, music, etc. It lays more emphasis on practical learning to enable holistic development of students.
With competition rising, the pressure to do well also increases among students. This has also raised the stress levels among parents and created a need for the availability of proper resources to help students in studying. To perform well in such a scenario, students look for extra resources that can be beneficial for them and parents in trying to make them available.
Though schools provide the necessary education, students still opt for supplementary IGCSE tuitions because of various reasons. High student to teacher ratios at schools make it difficult for teachers to devote individual attention, plus every student’s learning capability and methodology is different. Hence, opting for online or home tuitions is the safest bet. But the challenge does not end there! One is bound to get stuck while choosing the right IGCSE coaching class as a lot of factors have to be looked into before a decision is taken. Finding a good IGCSE tutor that is close to home and also teaches in your budget at your convenience has become a basic need among both students and parents.

IGCSE stands for “International General Certificate of Secondary Education”. It is equivalent to the GCSE qualification which is taken by students in Year 10 – 11 in the UK to prepare them for further pre-university level study, such as A-levels. The IGCSE is the ‘international’ version of this academic qualification as it’s available in many countries around the world. In the UK, the IGCSE is typically taught at international schools or private schools, rather than at state schools.
IGCSEs are internationally recognised as a highly-respected official high school qualification and act as the gateway to further academic study in the UK and beyond.
IGCSE examinations signal the completion of High School education, and are designed for students aged 14+ who want to progress on to A-levels – or other international equivalents – before entering university.
Every script needs the correct mark so that everybody gets the correct grade
Some exams are marked on paper and some (such as multiple-choice exams) are marked automatically by a computer. But for any exam, every student’s work is marked in the same way.
Cambridge examiners are teachers or experts in their subject, and they are carefully selected and trained. It is vital that they all mark to the same standard so that we can award the right mark to every candidate every time.
After all the marking has been done, we set the grades. We use a mixture of statistical evidence and expert judgement to agree grade boundaries. Exam papers can vary slightly in difficulty, so we take care to set the grade boundaries in the right place so you don’t get a lower grade just because the paper you sat was more difficult than last year’s.
Once the grade boundaries have been agreed, we apply them to your marks to give you a grade.
More than 10,000 schools are part of our Cambridge learning community. We operate in 160 countries across 9 regions: North America, Latin America, UK & Europe, Sub-Saharan Africa, Middle East & North Africa, South Asia, East Asia, Southeast Asia & Pacific and Pakistan. We have Cambridge representatives in every region.
