ICSE Board Class 11 Syllabus

Class 11th is considered crucial as many new concepts are introduced that can help students to prepare for competitive exams like IIT-JEE, NEET, CUET, etc. Most of the concepts introduced in class 11th are also important in understanding other higher-level concepts. In ICSE class 11, students have to choose their preferred subjects. Students need to be careful while choosing their streams as these subjects will help in shaping their career.

ICSE Class 11 Syllabus for All Subjects

After choosing a stream, students need to understand the subject matter. With this purpose, the ICSE Board syllabus has been developed.

There are many subjects included in the ICSE syllabus as per the streams chosen by students. Students who have opted for the Science stream need to focus on subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Computer Science, English, etc.

Commerce students need to study subjects like Accountancy, Business Studies, Economics, Mathematics/Computer Science/Geography, English, etc.

Students opting for the Arts stream have to learn subjects like Economics, History, Geography, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, English, etc.

Physics: ICSE Class 11 syllabus covers topics like kinematics, Kepler’s law of planetary motion, gravitation, thermodynamics, oscillations & waves, kinetic theory, work, power & energy, etc.

Chemistry: The Chemistry syllabus covers vast range of topics including, Mendeleev’s periodic table & its limitation, chemical thermodynamics, valence electrons, ionic bond character, chemical & ionic equilibrium, redox reactions, concept of oxidation & reduction, hydrocarbons, hydrogen & its compounds, environmental chemistry, organic chemistry, etc.

Mathematics: The ICSE class 11 syllabus covers themes like sets & functions, trigonometry, calculus, coordinate geometry, limits & derivatives, statistics & probability, permutation & combination, binomial theorem, ellipse, parabola, hyperbola, correlation analysis, etc.

Biology: The ICSE syllabus for Bio covers some of the major topics like biomolecules, morphology of flowering plants, locomotion & movement, digestion & absorption, body fluids & circulation, neural control & coordination, etc.

Economics: The syllabus includes concepts like theory of income & employment, money & banking, public finance, national income, sustainable development, poverty, rural development, economic planning, human capital formation, measures of central tendency, measures of dispersion, correlation, etc.

Accountancy: The syllabus covers topics like introduction to accounting, types of accounts, journal, ledger, trial balance, Bank Reconciliation Statement, depreciation, bills of exchange, accounting concepts, GAAP, concept of trading and profit & loss statement, capital & revenue expenditure, rectification of errors, types of errors, single entry & double entry, non-trading organization, MIS, Accounting Information System, etc.

Business Studies: The syllabus covers topics like business environment, SWOT analysis, entrepreneurship, managerial roles, authority, responsibility & accountability, change management, automation at workplaces, stock exchange, sole trader ship, partnership, joint venture, types of companies, social responsibilities & business ethics, retailers, wholesalers, WTO, foreign trade, export trade, kinds of insurance, business risks, etc.

History: The syllabus covers topics like growth of nationalism, revolutionary nationalism, Swadeshi Movement, colonial forest policy, social & religious movements, Arya Samaj, Brahmo Samaj, struggle against caste, the women’s question, Gndhian nationalism, Civil Disobedience Movement, Simon Commission, Rise of Fascism, The Great Depreciation, The Bolshevik Revolution, etc.

Geography: Major topics like interior of Earth, formation of the Earth, rocks, tectonic plates, isostasy, vulcanicity, earthquakes, landforms, soils, marine life & deposits, composition & structure of atmosphere, insolation & temperature, atmospheric pressures & winds, ocean water movements, biosphere, climate change, aerial photographs, etc. are covered in the syllabus.

Political Science: The ICSE syllabus for Political Science broadly covers themes like the origin of state, sovereignty, law, liberty, equality, end of cold war, disintegration of Soviet Union, regional cooperation, non-aligned movement, etc.
