IB Class 9 Syllabus for All Subjects

Language and Literature: The IB Board Class 9 curriculum for this subject aims to engage with text from different historical periods and a variety of cultures to explore and analyse aspects of personal, host and other cultures through literary and non-literary texts. It is a language that comes through a variety of media and modes to develop a lifelong interest in reading, apply linguistic, literary concepts and skills in a variety of authentic contexts.

Individuals and Societies: This subject identifies and develops concern for the well-being of human communities and the natural environment, to encourage responsible citizens of local and global communities to develop inquiry skills that lead towards conceptual understandings of the relationships between individuals, societies and the environments in which they live.

Science: It is a year-long course and the curriculum is designed to meet the needs of students with varying abilities and proficiency in the science course. The aim of the course is to provide secondary students with an introduction to the major topics. It is laboratory based and the students write laboratory reports that follow the IB Science criteria. The students are expected to stay current with the curriculum by reading and completing regular written homework.

Mathematics: Major topics in this course include exponents, equations, radicals and surds, coordinate geometry, quadratic equations, linear functions, quadratic functions and equations, systems of equations and inequalities and geometry.

Arts: Arts demonstrates the acquisition and development of the skills and techniques of the art form studied, application of techniques to create, perform and present art. It develops a feasible, clear, imaginative and coherent artistic intention so as to showcase a range and depth of creative thinking behaviours and exploration of ideas to shape artistic intention through to a point of realization.

Physical and Health Education: This subject includes sports such as volleyball, soccer, team games, basketball and dance. It explains and demonstrates the strategies to enhance interpersonal skills so as to develop goals and apply them to enhance performance by analysing and evaluating.

Design: It constructs a logical plan which describes the efficient use of time and resources, sufficient for others to be able to follow and create the solution. The technical skills when making the solution follow the plan to create the solution, which functions as intended to fully justify changes made to the chosen design and plan when making the solution.
